The Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine is the safest among similar drugs in the world. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2021).

“I think it is actually [the drug] and the safest in the world. At least, after the multimillion-dollar use of this drug, our services have not recorded a single death. Unfortunately, other manufacturers have such tragic cases, ”the Russian leader noted.

The President expressed the hope that in the future there will be no lethal outcomes when using Sputnik V.

According to Putin, the only side effect of the Russian vaccine is a slight fever for several hours. This symptom manifests itself in 10% of those vaccinated.

Earlier, EUobserver reported that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) received from an anonymous source in Russia internal documents of Rospotrebnadzor about four deaths after being vaccinated with Sputnik V. Three of the deceased were women at the age of 51, 69 and 74; for the fourth person, the publication does not provide documents. According to the documents, the deaths were related to heart, lung or blood sugar problems and were not caused by the vaccine.

In response, Roszdravnadzor reported that since the beginning of the vaccine application, not a single case of death resulting from vaccination has been recorded, and the frequency of adverse reactions is no more than 0.1%. Director of the Center. Gamalei, who developed Sputnik V, Alexander Gunzburg told RBC that he did not know anything about the four deaths reported by EUobserver, or about any other deaths after being vaccinated with Sputnik V.
