“Putin needs to save face”: Zelensky is convinced that Macron has already changed his position

French President Emmanuel Macron has previously said that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin needs to “save face”. According to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, he has already changed.

According to the head of state, there is now real trust between France and Ukraine. On February 8, the media reported that Zelensky could meet with Macron in Paris after visiting London.According to the president, the French leader has changed. And this time for real.

After all, it was he who opened the door to supply the tanks. He also supported Ukraine's bid to join the EU. I think it was a real signal,” Zelensky explained.

According to him, Ukraine has many conversations with France, Germany and other countries.

“I think that today there is real trust. I know that there are close historical ties between Germany and Russia, and very close between France and Russia,” the head of state said.

He added that he was surprised the fact that the descendants of Russians who fled the country in 1917 support Putin.

“The Russians who left their country in 1917 during the revolution, all the intelligentsia who fled from the communist regime, settled in Europe. But I am surprised to see that today some of their descendants support Vladimir Putin, while he does the same with their families what the communist regime was doing in 1917,” the president said.

Zelensky cannot understand this. Everyone thought that these Russians had become Europeans, but they are not.

“They don't like this European cultural environment. This is a big problem,” the Ukrainian leader summed up.

After London, Zelensky to visit Paris

On February 8, the President visited London, where he met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and King Charles. Zelensky also spoke in parliament.

After that, information appeared that the Ukrainian leader would fly to Paris, where he would meet with Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz is flying to Paris this Wednesday evening (February 8, 2023 – Channel 24) to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, informed sources in Berlin said.

In addition to a likely meeting with Macron and Scholz, Zelensky may make a speech at the European Parliament in Belgium on February 9.
