Venislavsky considers the provision of Patriot air defense and other weapons, which have already been officially announced, to be a big breakthrough for Ukraine. This happened thanks to the systematic efforts of the President of Ukraine, who discussed this, constantly spoke with US representatives. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and committees of the Verkhovna Rada also made an important contribution.

We have been working on this issue since the very beginning of the war. There were a lot of skeptics, including among Ukrainian officials. But what seemed unbelievable became a reality in December,” the deputy said.

When Patriot will work in Ukraine

According to the deputy, Ukraine will be able to see the Patriot in January. The question remains: “When will the air defense forces be able to use it?” Venislavsky optimistically stressed that the whole world notes the unprecedented speed of the Ukrainian military in mastering Western technology. I am convinced that our military and the Patriot system will be mastered faster than the normative deadlines. Moreover, we have already demonstrated this on multiple launch rocket systems and other systems, where there were also forecasts that more time would be needed, Venislavsky emphasized.

According to the politician’s forecasts,in one or two months after receiving the air defense, we will already see the result of the use of these systems in Ukraine.

Patriot power

According to the deputy, the fact that Vladimir Putin mentioned the Patriot program at his press conference means that we are definitely on the right track. Putin, in particular, said that this is an old system and Russia has such missiles that Patriot does not shoot down.

Putin needs to be reminded that even with those old systems that we have yes, the Ukrainian air defense forces achieved, probably, unprecedented results in history in terms of the percentage of missiles and aircraft shot down, – the people's deputy added.

He is convinced that these systems will undoubtedly strengthen our air defenses. Indeed, it cannot be said that we will shoot down absolutely all missiles, because there is no air defense in the world with a full guarantee of protecting the sky. But even so, a high percentage of shooting down will increase significantly.

“No one has any doubts about this, including the Russian aggressor,” Venislavsky noted.

What is known about the receipt of Patriot air defense

• December 21, the United States announced the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine Patriot. In addition to the complex itself, which could cost over a billion dollars, the United States will train the Ukrainian military to work on the complexes.
