The last time Putin visited Vostochny was on September 6, 2019. At the meeting he held with the builders and the leadership of the space industry, they discussed the creation of a launch pad for the Angara rockets and the progress of work on the creation of a new Soyuz-5 rocket.

The Vostochny cosmodrome is being built in three stages. The launch pad for the Soyuz missiles has already been built. At present, facilities of the second stage are being built at Vostochny, designed to launch missiles of the Angara family. The first launch of “Angara” from the cosmodrome is scheduled for 2023, in the same year a rocket with the promising manned spacecraft “Eagle” is to be launched from it.

On March 6, the state corporation Roscosmos told Interfax that the decision on the configuration of the launch pads of the third stage of the cosmodrome has not yet been made.

Vostochny is the youngest cosmodrome in Russia. The first launch from the cosmodrome was carried out in 2016.
