Putin's arrest warrant being discussed even in China, US political analyst
On March 18, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for illegal actions to deport Ukrainian children. This was an important political and ideological decision that the whole world is now talking about.
This was told to Channel 24 by a political scientist from the United States, Ramis Yunus. The decision also became an indicative precedent for countries that have not yet decided on their position.
Yunus drew attention to the political subtext of the decision, because this warrant became a kind of “political bomb” for Putin. In history, only six heads of state have been subjected to such measures. However, these countries did not have such weight as Russia, because it is a permanent member of the Security Council and a nuclear country.
This will acquire a huge resonance not only for the countries affected by this decision, but for other world states, for example, for those who have not yet decided on this war.
The solution will intensify
Yunus noted that all the important and mainstream media around the world, not only in Western countries, including China, are discussing this on their channels.
The political scientist recalled the words of Vladimir Zelensky that this political component will be further strengthened. Both Ukraine and the international court will work on this.
If you want this to move sooner or later to a substantive, legal plane, apart from the political component, you need to regularly support this decision every day, support this International Criminal Court. Not only for Ukraine, but also for all its allies, where it can, it should be on the agenda,” Yunus stressed.

Ukraine should use this solution
The political scientist is convinced that it is the issues of Russia's legal responsibility that should now be given more attention, and not how to arrest Putin. Today, this is almost unrealistic if he does not leave his country, or leaves for those countries that have not yet signed the Rome Statute and are not related to this decision.
History shows that many rules were rewritten in accordance with important political events, Yunus emphasized. He stressed that Ukraine must use this important ideological and political decision to arrest Putin extremely effectively.
The ISS issued an arrest warrant for Putin: what is known
- The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children's rights ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. This decision is connected with the criminal actions of illegal deportation of children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia.
- It should be noted that the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine handed over to the ISS more than 40 volumes of materials, including the deportation of more than 16 thousand children from Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. However, it is noted that the figure could be much higher.
- President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that this order is a historical moment from which historical responsibility begins. US President Joe Biden said the warrant for Putin's arrest is “a very strong argument.”
