Putin's visits to Crimea and Mariupol connected with a warrant for his arrest – Russian oppositionist
After the decision of the International Criminal Court, the owner of the Kremlin is trying to improve his image in the eyes of the Russian elites.
President Putin's visits to annexed Crimea and Mariupol destroyed by Russian troops were a direct consequence of the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which issued an arrest warrant for the owner of the Kremlin. After that, his image in the eyes of the Russian elites was significantly shaken.
This opinion was expressed by Russian opposition politician Dmitry Gudkov on Sunday, March 19, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
According to him, the fact that the International Criminal Court in The Hague officially recognized Putin as a criminal who needs to be arrested, seriously changes the situation inside Russia for the elites serving the Putin regime.
“Part of the elites will feel the “station” mood and think about how to jump off this “criminal Titanic”. Another part of the elite has already thought about whether it is worth giving Putin the opportunity to be reappointed to the presidency in 2024. Because he is not allowed to travel abroad, he is an official war criminal and now he is simply not able to perform the functions of the head of state,” Gudkov said.
According to the opposition Russian politician, Putin caught such sentiments of his entourage, so he arranged a trip to the illegally annexed Crimea and Mariupol destroyed by Russian troops.
“It is extremely important for him to demonstrate that, despite the fact that the Hague Tribunal declared him a criminal, he maintains his position: self-confident, strong, a strong handshake. And so, he can even afford some long trips so that no one even thinks of rocking the boat, does not think that he should be exchanged for someone. That is, Putin is now engaged in his own PR and his own image,” explained Dmitry Gudkov.
Recall that Germany will be obliged to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin if he comes to this country.
