The air temperature in recent days is breaking records in various cities of Russia. For example, last weekend two records of maximum temperature were recorded in St. Petersburg, famous for its capricious climate.
According to Aleksandr Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecast center, new records should be expected in the near future, since “heat waves will continue on the European territory of the country for quite a long time.”
In the first half of this week, he said, more than 100 records of maximum temperature will be set. They should be expected in central Russia from Veliky Novgorod to Nizhny Novgorod. For example, in Orel and Kursk, the thermometers will show +35 … + 37 degrees, in Moscow, a 35-degree heat is expected.
“That is, this is a whole series of absolutely hot days, which have not been in the history of meteorological observations,” the RT forecaster is quoted as saying.
The heat will gradually subside in the second half of the week. By the weekend, the capital will no longer be +35, and in St. Petersburg, thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday and Thursday, although the temperature will still be high.
