Rishi Sunak fined for posting Instagram with a car: the prime minister did not buckle up
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been fined for not wearing his seat belt while driving. The prime minister “lit up” while shooting a video on social networks.
Sunak posted a video on Instagram, in which he is driving in a car, but without a seat belt. At the time of filming the video, the prime minister was in Lancashire on a trip to northern England.
Police fine the prime minister: Sunak's reaction
In Britain passengers caught not wearing their seat belt are fined £100. Lancashire police said they had given the 42-year-old premier a conditional sentence of a fixed sentence. Sunak fully admitted that it “was a mistake” and apologized, adding that he would pay the fine.
If the case goes to trial, the fine could rise to £500.
This is Sunak's second fine while serving in the government.
This is the second time Mr. Sunak has received a fixed fine notice while serving in the government.
Last April, he was fined along with Boris Johnson and his wife Kerry for violating COVID-19 quarantine rules while partying on Downing Street in June 2020.
