Rogozin: the cost of the satellite system

The head of the state corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said that the cost of creating the Sphere satellite system will amount to 800 billion rubles, 500 billion of which is extra-budgetary funding.

– 0.8 trillion, of which 500 billion – off-budget, – Rogozin said, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum-2021.

In July 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the Sphere project, which provides for the creation of a global network of 600 satellites to provide the territory of Russia and other countries with Internet and telephone communications.

At the end of 2020, Dmitry Rogozin announced the allocation of 7 billion rubles from the budget to start work on the creation of the Sphere satellite constellation.
