Russia plans to start deploying its space station in five to six years, said the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin. She will have elements of artificial intelligence.
“We plan to start deploying this station in about five to six years. This is a completely new generation of orbital modules. The new station will have an open architecture, and such modules will replace each other in the event of a resource release, ”said Mr. Rogozin at the New Knowledge forum (quoted by TASS).
The new Russian space station will be as autonomous as possible and will receive elements of artificial intelligence, Dmitry Rogozin said. “There must be the highest level of intelligence at the machine itself, at the station itself with elements of artificial intelligence,” he answered the question about the fundamental differences between the new promising station from the previous systems. According to the head of Roscosmos, robotics should be used at the station in order to minimize the number of manned space walks and not expose him to the associated risks.
Operation of the International Space Station ends in 2028. Russia is working on the launch of a Russian Orbital Service Station with space port functions. Work on the construction of the first module should be completed by 2025. Russia intends to warn its partners about the withdrawal “from the ISS from 2025,” Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said earlier.
