Roskomnadzor blocked MBH Media and Open Media

The Internet edition “Open Media” reported that its website was blocked by most providers. In addition, the address openmedia.io is included by the RKN in the list of Internet pages “allowing to identify sites” containing calls to extremism. The RKN also blocked the website of the MBKh Media publication and the website Pravozashchita Postcards. Earlier, several journalists from Open Media, including the editor-in-chief of the publication, were included in the list of foreign agents.

“The Open Media website, openmedia.io, was blocked by most providers as of 21:30 Moscow time on Wednesday, August 4,” the publication reported on Telegram. “We also found that our spring address was on a special list on the Roskomnadzor website. (RKN) – “Registry of domain names, page pointers of sites on the Internet and network addresses that allow identifying sites on the Internet that contain calls for riots, the implementation of extremist activities, participation in mass (public) events held in violation of the established order” “.

Open Media notes that the editorial board has not received any relevant notifications. However, at 19:03 Moscow time today, August 4, four letters from Roskomnadzor were sent to the e-mail of Open Media, demanding that some illegal information be deleted. “If the owner of the information resource has deleted the information … he sends a notification about it … in order to check and resume access,” the publication quotes an excerpt from the RKN message.

According to the register of blocked sites, access to MBH Media was also limited by the decision of the Prosecutor General's Office on 3 August. In connection with what the site is blocked, it is still unknown. The website of the human rights organization “Pravozashchita Postcards” was also blocked.

On July 23, the Ministry of Justice included in the list of foreign agents five journalists from Open Media and Project (recognized as an undesirable organization in Russia). Among them was the editor-in-chief of Open Media, Yulia Yarosh, but this measure was not applied to the publication itself.

On July 30, Roskomnadzor demanded to block the Navalny Live YouTube channel and the website of the Dossier Center of Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Dossier released joint investigations with The Insider project, which was announced in Russia by a foreign agent.
