Roskomnadzor named the number of prohibited materials not deleted by social networks

Since 2015, the social networks Facebook and Instagram have not removed more than 3.7 thousand materials prohibited by Russian law, and the Google search engine and video hosting YouTube – more than 5.2 thousand materials. This was stated in the press service of Roskomnadzor.

It is noted that this data was received by the regulator as a result of checking compliance with Russian legislation by American Internet platforms and the media. The department also said that the average time to remove material at the request of Roskomnadzor is 105 days for Facebook and Instagram and 82 days for Google and YouTube.

In addition, the press service emphasized that the listed Internet resources have not yet localized the data of Russian users, for which they were fined.

Earlier it was reported that the court fined the social network Twitter, having considered six protocols for 19 million rubles, and in total – almost 28 million. Each of the protocols was written out for refusal to remove content recognized as prohibited under Russian law.
