Roskomnadzor: the state is obliged to protect citizens from personal data leakage
MOSCOW, May 18. / TASS /. The state is obliged to protect Internet users from leaks of personal data, fraud and dangerous content, said the head of Roskomnadzor Andrey Lipov.
“The state is obliged to protect citizens from the uncontrolled distribution of personal data, fraud, dangerous content, attacks on children and adolescents in social networks,” Lipov said at a meeting of the public council under Roskomnadzor.
Lipov said that by 2021 the number of Internet users in Russia had reached 124 million, that is, 85% of the country's population. About 100 million residents of the Russian Federation are users of social networks.
The head of Roskomnadzor noted that thanks to online services for finding remote work, it was possible to mitigate the economic consequences of the pandemic. “Stable functioning of the national segment of the Internet is a prerequisite for normal economic development of the country, raising the standard of living of the population,” he stressed.
