Rospotrebnadzor announced plans to create a biochip for detecting COVID
Scientists of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after V.I. IN Blokhina Rospotrebnadzor are working on the creation of a prototype biochip to detect the causative agents of community-acquired pneumonia, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus, according to the agency's website.
“It is planned to characterize the regional peculiarities of the etiological structure of community-acquired pneumonia, taking into account which a prototype of a DNA biochip will be developed,” the message says.
In the United States, scientists have created a protective mask with which you can determine in 90 minutes whether a person is infected or not. Disposable sensors located on the inside of the mask help in this, they are able to detect viral particles when a person breathes.
