Rospotrebnadzor: no Indian strain of COVID-19 detected in Russia
Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said that the Indian strain of the coronavirus, which has a double mutation, has not yet been found in Russia, TASS reports.
He stressed that the absence of this strain on the territory of the Russian Federation can be said thanks to the results of monitoring the genetic variability of coronavirus infection in the country, which was carried out by the laboratories of the institutes of Rospotrebnadzor.
We will remind, in March in India registered a new type of coronavirus with mutations E484Q and L452R in the S-protein.
This week, in the Indian state of West Bengal, doctors recorded a new variant of COVID-19. It was noted that the new SARS-CoV-2 lineage is characterized by a separate set of genetic variants.
In addition to the Indian variant, British, South African and Brazilian strains of the coronavirus have been identified in the world.
