On March 14, the State Duma of Russia adopted the scandalous law on the citizenship of Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the terrorist country grossly violates the legislation of Ukraine, as well as the norms of international law.

Russia continues illegal forced passportization in the temporarily occupied territories. Invaders manipulate, in particular, work. In the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass, work can be continued only on one condition: having received a Russian passport.

Terrorist country passes scandalous law

The State Duma of Russia on March 14, 2023 made a scandalous decision. Now citizens of Ukraine who have received Russian passports in the occupied territories can renounce Ukrainian citizenship by simply submitting a corresponding application to the authorities of the terrorist country.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed that in this way Russia is trying to legitimize:

• an attempt to annex the occupied Ukrainian territories;
• illegal passportization of their inhabitants.

Russia once again grossly violates the legislation of Ukraine and the norms of international law

It (the law – channel 24) is void and has no legal consequences. Ukrainian citizens residing in the temporarily occupied territories will retain the citizenship of Ukraine, despite Russian legislation.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that Ukrainian legislation has a clearly defined procedure for renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship.

The terrorist country continues to put pressure on the residents of the temporarily occupied territories. In particular, they threaten to confiscate property.
