Russia has announced that they are withdrawing from the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). However, in fact, the aggressor country was suspended from activity in early March due to the war against Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement according to which they are leaving the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).
In it, the Russian ministry also accused the members of the Council of politicizing its activities and stated that the situation in the organization was “degrading”. In their opinion, the member countries of NATO and the European Union as part of the Council “refused equal dialogue and the principles on which this regional structure was created.”
However, Russia was removed from the activities of the Council of the Baltic Sea States on March 3rd. Then the members unanimously decided.
It is known that in 2022 CBSS will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Which countries are included:

- Germany,
- Iceland,
- Latvia
- Lithuania,
- Norway,
- Poland,
- Sweden,
- European Alliance.
- Ukraine has observer status.
