On Thursday, January 13, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the preparations for the withdrawal of the forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) from Kazakhstan.

The Russian “Interfax” writes about this.

“The units of the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces in the Republic of Kazakhstan, having completed their tasks, are starting to prepare equipment and materiel for loading onto the aircraft of the Military Transport Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces and returning to their permanent deployment points,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

As noted in Moscow, the CSTO military is handing over to the security forces of Kazakhstan the protection of key facilities in the country.

“In accordance with the plan developed by the command of the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the transfer of socially significant objects guarded by peacekeepers to the country's law enforcement agencies has begun,” the Russian military said.

Russia notes that the return of the CSTO military to their countries will be organized in cooperation with the Kazakh side.

Recall, riots in Kazakhstan began on January 2 because of gas prices . Tokayev introduced a state of emergency throughout the country, and also turned to the CSTO with a request for military support.

On January 6, it became known that peacekeepers from the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization had been sent to Kazakhstan. Russia has formed an air group of more than 70 Il-76 and five An-124 aircraft to transport its military.
