The Russian Embassy in Washington, in its Twitter account, called the statement by representatives of the US administration about the security crisis caused by Russia “a turning of facts.”
“The statement of the undersecretary of state about the” security crisis caused by Russia “is in the good traditions of the US administration. Officials often turn facts upside down, ”the embassy said in a statement.
It also quoted First Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman as saying that a response to the “Russian-created security crisis” was needed.
Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said that the US wants to continue negotiations with Russia. Nuland called the Geneva meeting on security assurances “an exchange of views.” The dialogue was constructive, it was worth holding, the US Undersecretary of State noted.
The talks on guarantees of security and strategic stability between Russia and the United States took place on January 10 in Geneva. They lasted about 7.5 hours. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the US Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva and without the participation of journalists.
