The Russian fleet and aviation have begun large-scale exercises in the Baltic Sea. The day before, a two-week NATO exercise with the participation of Finland and Sweden began there.

On June 9, Russian media reported on the withdrawal of the Russian Baltic Fleet. In total, 100 pieces of equipment of the aggressor country were involved in these actions.

How the Russians explained the withdrawal of troops to the sea

In the fleet of our enemy, they said that now a “training plan” for 2022 is allegedly being implemented in the Baltic Sea. Only 60 surface ships of various types, as well as 40 aircraft, are involved in the exercises. Also, there are up to 2 thousand units of:

  • other military equipment;
  • special equipment;
  • Russian weapons.

“The objectives of the exercises are to increase the level of readiness and viability of the military command and control bodies of the Baltic Fleet,” the occupying army said. They also plan to improve interaction in the sea and field training of ship crews.

What is known about NATO training in the same sea

We are talking about the annual Baltops-22 program. Her launch was scheduled for June 5th. They will continue for 12 days. 16 countries of the North Atlantic Alliance immediately took part in the naval exercises.

Which countries are involved:

  • Bulgaria;
  • Denmark;
  • Estonia;
  • France;
  • Germany;
  • Latvia;
  • Lithuania;
  • Netherlands;
  • Norway;
  • Poland;
  • Turkey;
  • United Kingdom;
  • United States of America.

Sweden and Finland will also participate in partnership with the military bloc. This is probably due to the fact that these 2 countries are candidates for NATO membership.

Other exercises have also begun

On June 9, it became known that NATO air defense exercises began in Europe “The Ramstein Legacy” 17 countries that are NATO members were immediately involved in this.

For a certain period, employees of the Alliance will practice using aircraft, missile defense systems and electronic warfare systems.

And from 20 to 28 June, NATO exercises will be held in Turkey, which can conditionally be considered a continuation of the previous ones – Ramstein Dust II-2022. First of all, they will practice air force operations there.
