Warsaw demands in response permission to check the missile activity of the Russians in Kaliningrad.
Against the background of Russia’s demands for “security guarantees”, US representatives discussed with NATO allies in Europe issues regarding the authorization of Russian inspection at facilities with American air defense systems in Poland and Romania.
This is reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources in the circles of Polish officials.
“Polish officials have stated that the government is open to air defense inspections [Of the Russian Federation] provided that Russia permits inspections of Russian missile activity in Kaliningrad,” the publication says, in particular, on this occasion.
Obviously, the Kremlin will not agree to such a proposal.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, answering a question from a CNN journalist about the deployment of missiles in this region, which is a Russian enclave near Poland and Lithuania, said that Russia does not intend to discuss with anyone the deployment of its own weapons in Kaliningrad.
Recall that in NATO’s response to the “security guarantees” demanded by Russia, the North Atlantic Alliance calls on the Kremlin to abandon hostility towards neighboring countries and withdraw its troops from Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.
