Russia will refuse to extend the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START III) on Washington's terms. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that Moscow cannot speak with ultimatums, and US attempts to put pressure on the issue of arms control reduce the chances of an agreement.
The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START III) was signed in 2010 by the then presidents of Russia and the United States, Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama. The agreement came into force in 2011 and expires in February 2021.
