Russian Aerospace Forces will conduct exercises on special support for military aviation

The Russian military uses more than 450 aircraft during exercises on special types of support for military aviation, including long-range and unmanned aircraft. This was announced by the Commander of the Air Force, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces (VKS), Lieutenant General Sergei Dronov.

“At the end of August, at the airfields of the Western Military District, an exercise was planned on special types of support for the Aerospace Forces, during which the issues of preparation for the tasks for the assignment of aviation units of all types of aviation, including for the first time long-range and unmanned aviation, will be worked out,” Dronov said in an interview the newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda”.

According to him, during the exercise, it is planned for the first time to carry out military repair of aircraft by means of mobile technical and operational units with the involvement of repair teams of defense industry enterprises, including on the airfield section of the road.

By the end of 2021, it is planned to supply over 60 units of new aviation equipment to the Russian army, including modern multipurpose aircraft Su-30SM, Su-35S, Su-57 and front-line bombers Su-34. The military will also receive heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, combat helicopters Mi-28NM, Ka-52 and landing transport Mi-8AMTSh-VN. More than 200 modernized aircraft will enter service. As noted by Mr. Dronov, all samples of aircraft are equipped with the latest personal protection systems. They are being tested during the fighting in Syria.

At the end of June, the crews of five ships of the Russian Navy repelled an attack by a mock enemy and trained air defense forces during exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. Training flights were also performed by MiG-31K fighters armed with Dagger hypersonic missiles and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers.
