Russian citizen declared on the international wanted list was detained in the Canary Islands

The Spanish police detained a 56-year-old Russian who was put on the international wanted list in the Canary Islands. This is reported by the publication 20 Minutos.

The name of the detainee is not called. It is known that the man was wanted by the Russian authorities on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement. He is reported to have committed these crimes while running a Russian state-owned enterprise. Because of him, the company suffered losses in the amount of 900 thousand euros.

The police found the man, verified his identity and arrested him. He lived with his relative in a house in the municipality of Adeje, located on the island of Tenerife. This city is the headquarters for the Russian Orthodox Church in the Canary Islands.

Earlier it was reported that the Spanish Civil Guard detained a former State Duma deputy who was on the international wanted list. His name was not specified. Russia has put the detainee on the wanted list through Interpol on charges of embezzling public funds.
