The Russian modernized heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A will be able to lift 12 tons more, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) reports.
According to designer Andrey Yurasov, the aircraft's payload has been increased from 48 to 60 tons, and the flight range has been increased by 18 percent. As a result of modernization, fuel consumption has decreased by 12-15 percent.
According to the specialist, the Il-76MD-90A received a reinforced wing and chassis, as well as updated engines. The wing panels are now manufactured in one piece, which has reduced the weight of the wing, increased its service life and simplified the manufacturing process.
In December 2018, Zvezda showed an inspection of the engine, on-board systems, an emergency escape system, opening and closing side doors, an all-round visual control system and navigation equipment of a Russian air tanker aircraft based on the Il-76MD-90A.
