Russian athletes in Beijing repeated the record for the number of medals at the Winter Olympics. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

At the moment, domestic athletes have 29 awards. Prior to that, the USSR team won the same number of medals at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, as well as the Russian team at the home Games in Sochi in 2014.

Russia ranks second in the unofficial medal standings of the 2022 Games in terms of the number of awards. Domestic athletes now have six gold medals, ten silver and 13 bronze medals. On February 19, skier Alexander Bolshunov won gold in the mass start, and Ivan Yakimushkin won silver at the same distance.

The Beijing Olympic Games will last until February 20. The closing ceremony will begin on Sunday at 15:00 Moscow time.
