Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has become a reminder of why people celebrate Europe Day.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this in her address on the eve of May 9.
“The day when the peaceful , a prosperous Europe. After 72 years, Europe has united with our Ukrainian friends who are striving for a free European future,” said Ursula von der Leyen.

In her words, unity, resolution and solidarity are the keys to overcoming the challenge that the war in represents Ukraine for the European Union.
“I am convinced and optimistic that our Union can also overcome the challenge posed by the war in Ukraine,” the President of the European Commission emphasized in her video message on the occasion of May 9 in the European Union .
Recall that on May 4, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the sixth package of sanctions against Russia for aggression against Ukraine. Among the restrictions are the oil embargo, the disconnection of several other Russian banks from SWIFT, the ban on state news broadcasters.
