Another reason to start training earlier is to save money, because Ukraine, in the conditions of war and the Russian invasion, is waiting for “the coldest winter in history.” In this situation, it is more logical to start training when it is still warm and you do not need to spend extra money on heating.

The introductory campaign in vocational schools will be extended until November 1, 2022. Thus, the training groups formed on September 1 are planned to be completed. This is important for students who have fled their homes or found themselves in a war zone due to the war. schools, universities and TVETs in the territories free from the occupiers have become a haven for thousands of refugees. Now they are looking for new locations for them, and the buildings themselves are waiting for repairs and adaptation for wartime.

Now, in order to start the educational process in the TVET, there must be a shelter with supplies of water, food and medicines, safety measures must be worked out and exercises should be conducted among students, teachers and staff.

The situation with hostels is difficult – options are being considered aggregation, that is, if different hostels are located nearby, students can be relocated to one of them, and refugees and VET workers to another. “>The first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year will last from September 1 to December 1, 2022, the second semester will from February 15 to June 30, 2023.

The Ministry of Education also recommends the use of Saturdays in the warm part of the year and the introduction of appropriate changes in the schedule of the educational process and the vacation of workers. Again, for the sake of economy.

Offline or online

In the new academic year, VET should work in a full-time format – for this type of educational institution this is very important, because practice plays an important role.

Working professions are valuable for Ukraine. Effective learning becomes possible with a combination of long practice and theory. That is why we recommend that vocational technicians start training in full-time format. We have already developed a list of measures to ensure the safety of all participants in the educational process. In particular, before the start of the new academic year, institutions need to equip shelters and properly organize evacuation routes, – the director of the Directorate of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Science Irina Shumik explained the importance of full-time education in VET.

However, everyone understands that that there is a war in the country, and therefore, depending on the situation, by decision of the regional military administrations, a decision can be made to transfer the educational process to a remote or mixed form.

Officials took care of online resources for vocational school students in advance. Of course, online courses for future builders, installers, plumbers, seamstresses and locksmiths sound rather strange, but such realities of the time.

If it is impossible to conduct the educational process directly in buildings, premises, in particular, For security reasons, the Ministry of Education recommended to coordinate in advance with other educational institutions (in particular, in other settlements or regions) the possibility of using their material and technical base.
