Saakashvili's condition worsened: mother asks to admit foreign doctors

Miho needs a “normal check-up.”

The condition of Georgian expresident Mikheil Saakashvili , who was transferred from hospital to prison, worsened.

This was stated by his mother Giuli Alasania, Novoye Vremya writes.

“The symptoms worsened – headache, sleep problems, tremors, numbness in the arms and legs,” she said.

According to Giuli Alasania, Miho needs a “normal examination.” However, he was examined by a neurologist and prescribed medication. The woman demands that doctors and not only Georgian ones be allowed to see him.

“We are planning to bring doctors from abroad. We should be given this opportunity,” Alasania said.

Recall that Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on October 1, 2021 by Georgian law enforcement officers. Prior to this, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili warned the expresident that on his return he would go to jail. Indeed, in 2018, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced him in absentia to three years in prison for abuse of office as the head of state.

After Miho returned to Georgia, another case was opened against him – about illegal border crossing. After the arrest, the expresident began a hunger strike and declared himself a political prisoner. He hasn't eaten for 50 days. He was hospitalized in a military hospital due to his serious health condition. At the end of December he was returned back to the Rustavi prison institution.
