Samsung introduced a record processor

Samsung has announced a processor for next-generation smartphones. The technical characteristics of the chip were published on the company's website.

The new model, the Exynos 1080, is the company's first chip based on a 5nm process technology. The processor has eight Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores, which operate at a maximum frequency of 2800 and 2600 megahertz, respectively. The Mali-G78 MP10 accelerator is responsible for working with graphics. The new processor supports both 5G standards – both mmWave and Sub-6GHz, all known Wi-Fi bands, Bluetooth 5.2.

According to company representatives, the Exynos 1080 can perform up to 5.7 trillion operations per second. The processor supports displays with refresh rates up to 144 hertz in Full HD + and HDR10 + resolution. The description of the chip says that thanks to the increased energy efficiency, smartphones based on Exynos 1080 can achieve record autonomy.

The phone, based on the new processor, can be equipped with up to six lenses of the main camera with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels. According to the company's engineers, during shooting, artificial intelligence detects and analyzes objects in the frame, optimizing settings for the best shots.

Smartphones based on the new chip are expected to be available on the market in the first half of 2021. The first device with Exynos 1080 will be the Vivo X60 smartphone.
