Scientists have determined the timing of the preservation of immunity in patients with coronavirus

A group of scientists from Sweden and Italy conducted studies related to covid-19, and determined the timing of the preservation of immunity in those who had been ill.

So, according to the results of specialists, in people who have undergone covid, the number of antibodies slowly decreases in the first 6 months, and then remains at the same level for 15 months. The scientists' article was published on bioRxiv.org.

In their study, the scientists used data from 136 patients who suffered from coronavirus in various forms. In volunteers, they measured the titers of anti-S and anti-RBD antibodies in plasma. It turned out that mutations accumulate over time in the structure of the S-protein and RBD-domain. This means that the neutralizing ability of antibodies decreases in the human body.

It is also noted that the longest retained a high level of antibodies in the body was in those who had had a severe coronavirus.

Earlier, the site kp.ru wrote that the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, reported on the possibility of creating a vaccine in Russia that would simultaneously protect against coronavirus infection and influenza. According to him, the creation of such a drug will become possible only after scientists manage to create a vaccine with proteins of several strains of COVID-19.
