Elderly people who have undergone coronavirus have more antibodies than young people who have had COVID-19, the Helix laboratory service said.
In the age group 60-70 years, the average amount of IgG antibodies is twice the number in people aged 20-30 years. The severity of the disease also affects the number of antibodies: in the age group over 50, their level was higher in severe cases of coronavirus, reports TASS.
According to the observations of scientists, the rate of antibodies also depends on gender. In men, the maximum immunity is formed 45 days after the disease and begins to fall after 60 days. In women, the amount of antibodies increases within 60-180 days.
The study was conducted among 1.5 thousand people aged 18-69 years. All of them suffered from COVID-19 asymptomatically, in mild or severe form.
As the website kp.ru wrote, earlier the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, reported that scientists have not yet established the level of antibodies that guarantee protection against coronavirus.
