“Servant” Kolesnik was found guilty of lying in the declaration: why she will not be punished

The court postponed the consideration of the case until March 16, and on March 17, according to the prosecutor, the term for bringing Kolesnik to criminal liability expires.
Accused of non-declaration, MP from the Servant of the People faction Anna Kolesnik did not appear at the court session of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in the case of non-declaration of apartments due to business trips. The criminal proceedings against the parliamentarian are likely to be closed due to the statute of limitations.
At the beginning of today's session, the presiding judge Olga Salandyak read Kolesnyk's petition, in which she asked to postpone the court session.
In the petition, she informs the court that there is an order from the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Kornienko on a business trip of the Verkhovna Rada delegation to Slovakia. The business trip is from February 26 to March 2. However, objectively, she cannot come to court on March 3 due to curfew requirements. It is also not possible to have a conference call,” the presiding judge noted.
In turn, the prosecutor provided a document from the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada, according to which a business trip for March 3 was not issued. She also noted that March 17 is the deadline for bringing Kolesnik to criminal liability and therefore called on the court to continuously consider the case. Finally , the court adjourned the hearing until March 16.
What preceded this
On October 14, 2022, NABU and SAPO informed MP Kolesnyk about suspicion of false declaration. According to investigators, the people's choice did not include information about the lease (ownership) of two apartments in Kiev, a share in a non-residential premises in Kharkov and a car in the declaration of a person authorized to perform the functions of the state or local government for 2020. The total value of this property, which the people's deputy had, but did not reflect in the declaration, exceeds 4.4 million hryvnias.
Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Agency reported on the discrepancies found. In the conclusion of the department, it was said that Kolesnik did not indicate in the declaration the non-residential premises in Kharkov, which she owns by 25%. She also did not declare a 2014 Honda motorcycle she bought in 2017.
