Spanish town temporarily renamed Ukraine as a sign of solidarity

Local authorities decided to temporarily rename the town of Fuentes de Andalusia (Spain) in support of the Ukrainians. This week, Fuentes de Andalussia is named “Ukraine”.
This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
This decision was made by the local authorities of this city with a population of 7200 man in the province of Seville. In addition, some of its streets are currently renamed Kievskaya, Mariupolskaya, Kharkivskaya, Khersonskaya and Odesskaya.
“This action was implemented on the initiative of the residents of the town, who thus decided to demonstrate their solidarity with the people of Ukraine against the backdrop of the Russian invasion,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.
The municipal authorities of Fuentes de Andalusia also initiated programs to collect humanitarian aid to Ukraine and expressed their readiness to accept 25 Ukrainian citizens in their province .
Recall that Prague and Vilnius have already decided to rename the streets where the Russian embassy is located. In Prague, the streets on which the premises of the diplomatic department of the Russian Federation stand were changed to the street “Ukrainian Heroes”, and in Vilnius – to the street “Heroes of Ukraine”.
