Steinmeier calls for Putin's war crimes tribunal/Der Spiegel

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier called for a war crimes tribunal for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

He stressed that all those who bear political responsibility for war crimes in Ukraine should be brought to justice.

This applies to military leaders as well as soldiers and politicians.

Anyone responsible for these crimes will have to answer. Including soldiers. Including military leaders. And, of course, those who bear political responsibility,” he said.

Steinmeier added that the situation in Bucha is terrible, and it is hard for him to bear those bloody photos. But he stressed that this once again proves what Russia's criminal attack on Ukraine means and what suffering and death it brings.

The German president also admitted that he hoped for the remnants of Vladimir Putin's “rationality”.
