Switzerland may close the skies over Geneva during the Russia-USA summit

The possibility of closing the airspace over Geneva for civilian aircraft during the Russian-American summit on June 16 exists. This was announced to RIA Novosti by the official representative of the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sports Lorenz Frishknecht.

“We are currently unable to provide more detailed information. Possible measures include monitoring the airspace, the deployment of combat aircraft and ground-based air defense systems, as well as restrictions on the use of airspace for civil aviation, ”the official said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden will meet on June 16 in Geneva. At the meeting, they plan to discuss strategic stability, the fight against the pandemic, international issues and regional conflicts.
