Since the beginning of a full-scale war, and even more so since the start of massive shelling of Ukraine, Russia has fired hundreds of missiles and drones at peaceful cities and the critical infrastructure of our state. Air defense forces tirelessly shoot down as many of them as possible in order to prevent new disasters and casualties.

For its attacks on the cities of Ukraine, Russia used up a huge strategic stock of missiles. Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about this on the air of the telethon, Channel 24 reports.

How many air defense forces have been shot down since last fall

The terrorist country began resorting to massive rocket attacks since the autumn of last year. Its goals were, in particular, critical infrastructure, destroying which the occupiers wanted to plunge Ukraine into darkness in winter.

Since that time, since September 11, 2022, according to Yuri Ignat, the Air Defense Forces, as of March 9, shot down:

• about 700 enemy missiles,
• more than 650 kamikaze drones of Iranian and Russian production.

And all this number without taking into account those missiles and drones, which, unfortunately, failed to shoot down.

The Minister of Defense, when meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, stated that only 820 cruise and ballistic missiles have been used by the enemy since the massive attacks on critical infrastructure since September last year, – Yuri Ignat emphasized.

Potential to be restored

Also, the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that the terrorist country had been producing all this number of missiles for more than one year.

This is a huge potential that needs to be restored; they have been manufacturing these missiles for years, and some for decades. – he said.

The last massive missile attack on Ukraine

• On March 9, Russia launched 48 X-101/X-555 and Caliber cruise missiles into Ukrainian cities. Of these, our air defense forces managed to destroy 34. In addition, out of 8 Shahid kamikaze drones, 4 were turned into scrap metal.
• Russia also launched 6 Kinzhal missiles and 6 Kh-22 missiles. Their existing air defense systems in Ukraine simply cannot shoot down. Then Yuri Ignat noted that he did not remember that the enemy used so many of these ballistic missiles in one attack.
• During this attack, an enemy rocket fell in the Zolochiv district of the Lviv region, killing three men and two women who were at home at that moment.
• The fire from the hit destroyed three residential buildings, three cars, a garage and several outbuildings.
