October 28 – 31 on the basis of the Russian Chemical Technical University named after V.I. DI. Mendeleev, within the framework of the Year of Science and Technology, the All-Russian Workshop for Young Scientists Rethink will be held. The organizers invite young scientists (up to 39 years old) from all over Russia to participate in order to develop their thinking and communication skills. A modern scientist must manage not only to actively conduct research, but also to work on the development of “soft” competencies and to properly build communication around himself and projects. To solve this problem RCTU them. DI. Mendeleev, with the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), will conduct a pilot workshop for young scientists.
During the Workshop, participants will be able to look at the field of research and development from different angles together with leading scientists, entrepreneurs and journalists. The invited experts will share relevant examples and cases, hold discussions on topics that determine the agenda for the development of science in Russia and the world.
The workshop program includes speeches by Nikita Marchenkov, Chairman of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, Konstantin Fursov, Deputy Director General for Science of the Polytechnic Museum, Gleb Fedorov, Chief Producer of ANO National Priorities and others.
“In the Year of Science and Technology, many projects are being implemented aimed at popularizing research and development, communicating with society and increasing the prestige of the profession of a scientist. But there are not so many communication projects for scientists themselves, usually these are specialized or interdisciplinary conferences, where the main subject of discussion is objects and methods of scientific research. We want to shift the focus, give young scientists an opportunity to discuss issues from the life of researchers that will be common for everyone, ”comments Georgy Shahgildyan, head of the scientific communication department of the Russian Chemical Technology University named after DI. Mendeleev. “At the Workshop, we gather scientists so that they can look at their activities in different ways, learn about new opportunities, learn to build horizontal connections and communicate with society.”
A feature of the event will be work in project groups on the topics: technological entrepreneurship, scientists and citizens, scientific collaborations, popularization of science, sustainable development in science. Together, scientists will propose ways to solve problems important for young scientists and will create five short animated videos.
For participants from the regions, the organizers offer 10 travel grants that cover transfer and accommodation in Moscow. The deadline for applications is September 15th.
