We are talking about the Norwegian mobile battery of medium-range anti-aircraft missiles NASAMS. Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about this on the air of the telethon, Channel 24 reports. According to him, Ukraine is already talking about this with the manufacturer.

He explained that there is a queue for the purchase of these complexes and, since there was no application from Ukraine, many complexes cannot be obtained. At the same time, the positive decision of the United States, which produces missiles for this system, and the Norwegian manufacturer, gives a “green light” for Ukraine.

At the same time, Ignat noted that Ukraine's air defense works quite effectively and shoots down Russian cruise missiles, but needs to be improved. In addition, he mentioned that there is a certain specificity of work.

We are now working in other realities than in peacetime. The Air Force is working on new approaches, in conditions where you need to constantly move, constantly avoid enemy missile attacks, – he said.

Ukraine cannot exist without air cover

The speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that such a state as Ukraine cannot exist without air cover. Despite the fact that our state has fighter aircraft, attack and bomber, it requires a new one, because there are – Soviet-style and small.

According to him, the forces and means that Ukraine uses in the fight against technological and quantitatively superior to the occupier, are morally obsolete, so you will need to develop your own air defense system, strengthen it with anti-missile and air defense samples.

According to Ignat, significantly strengthen the air defense of Ukraine will be able , like the Norwegian NASAMS and the German IRIS-T, which Ukraine expects to receive in the near future.

At the same time, he believes that, first of all, it is now necessary to protect Ukrainians from missile attacks, since the transfer of fighters and aircraft is not a quick process.
