The artist sold an invisible sculpture for 1.3 million rubles

Salvatore Garau

The Italian artist Salvatore Garau sold an invisible sculpture called “I am” (I am) for 15 thousand euros or 1.3 million rubles. The final price of the artwork was 2.5 times higher than the original price, according to Italy 24 News.

Garau stated that the sculpture exists, although it is not visible: it is created from energy, strength and thoughts. The work can only fit in a private house, and to install it, you will need to free up space of 1.5 by 1.5 meters. As proof of the purchase of the sculpture, the buyer was handed a certificate that gives ownership.

The work was sold at the auction house Art-Rite, which is interested in the topic of contemporary art. “The sculpture is completely invisible, so it cannot be reproduced on the web or copied. Separately, it is worth noting that Garau's intangible works do not have an impact on the environment, ”- said in the description of the work.

The artist himself is pleased with the results of the auction and assesses them as “successful”. “The outcome of the bidding proves that emptiness is nothing more than a space full of energy. Even if we empty it and nothing is left, according to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, nothing matters, ”Garau said.

Earlier, the artist received one and a half million rubles per day for the popular meme Deal with it. The buyer received not only a copy of the meme in question, but also “all rights to it, including the original template in Photoshop.”
