The chief US infectious disease specialist spoke about the possible deterioration of Trump's condition
The chief infectious disease specialist of the United States, Anthony Fauci, spoke about the possible deterioration of the condition of President Donald Trump infected with the coronavirus. He stated this in an interview with CNN.
“The problem is that he's still at a fairly early stage of the disease,” Fauci said. According to the specialist, the condition of the US leader may worsen against the background of the reverse dynamics that is observed in many patients recovering from COVID-19: it can appear after 5-8 days.
The infectious disease specialist also criticized the experimental drug company Regeneron, which was given to Trump for treatment. However, then Fauci added that the reverse dynamics in the state of the president is unlikely and that he looked good on arrival at the White House.
Earlier it was reported that Trump left the Walter Reed military hospital, where he was treated for three days after being infected with the coronavirus. The American leader, wearing a medical mask, left the building of the medical facility. He waved his hand to the journalists, said “Thank you very much” and raised his thumb. Then he got into the jeep, drove to the helicopter and flew away.
Trump's infection with the coronavirus became known on the morning of October 2. His wife Melania Trump also tested positive for coronavirus. US President's attending physician Sean Conley emphasized that Trump and the first lady are doing well and plan to stay at the residence for the duration of their recovery. Trump said he did not intend to transfer his powers to US Vice President Mike Pence.
