Cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Eliseev spoke about Yuri Gagarin's advice after the first space flight in 1961. The video was published on the YouTube channel of the Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics.
According to the cosmonaut, Gagarin advised his colleagues to prepare bags because of vestibular disorders associated with weightlessness. “That is, he was the first to feel that weightlessness has a bad effect on the vestibular apparatus, and one must be ready for this,” he said.
Eliseev also added that some astronauts like to talk about the difficulties they faced in space, trying to attract attention. “Yuri Alekseevich never had this. He acted as if he had never flown, ”he said.
After the first flight into space on April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin gained worldwide fame. He worked at the Cosmonaut Training Center and did not have flight practice for some time, but then decided to regain his qualifications and began training flights under the guidance of instructor Vladimir Seregin. The name of Gagarin was given to many settlements and streets of cities in the USSR.
