The court fined Twitter 5.5 million rubles for failure to remove illegal content

A magistrate court in Moscow fined Twitter 5.5 million rubles for failure to remove prohibited content, RIA Novosti reports.

Under one of the protocols, a fine of 3 million rubles was imposed, under the second – 2.5 million.

Also on July 22, the court fined Facebook 6 million rubles and Telegram 11 million rubles for similar violations.

Earlier it was reported that the Internet resources Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter did not confirm the localization of the databases of Russians on the territory of the Russian Federation, in connection with which administrative protocols will be drawn up on them. The fine for the lack of localization ranges from 1 million to 6 million rubles, and a repeated violation can cost as early as 18 million rubles.
