The court found the organizer of the pseudo-referendum in the South guilty: what punishment was she given

The court issued the first verdict for organizing pseudo-referendums in southern Ukraine. In particular, they established the guilt of one resident of the Kherson region.

The security service has collected an exhaustive evidence base on the organizer of the Russian pseudo-referendum in the Beryslav district of the Kherson region.

What is known about the organizer of the Russian “referendum”

The intruder is a former member of the local “electoral commission”, which was created by the occupiers during the temporary occupation of the territory. In October 2022, after the area was liberated, SBU officers detained a collaborator.

According to the investigation, the enemy minion is a resident of the village of Novoaleksandrovka, Berislavsky district, who at the beginning of the full-scale invasion supported the Russian invaders. After the capture of the settlement, she voluntarily joined the ranks of the local occupation administration. There, the traitor performed Moscow's tasks of organizing and holding an illegal referendum in the temporarily occupied part of southern Ukraine.

To do this, the attacker formed the so-called “voter registers” in the district, urged people to come to the “plots” and “vote” in favor of the aggressor country. She personally went around private households and demanded that people put the “mark in the ballots” necessary for the occupiers.

What punishment was assigned to the collaborator

The investigation was carried out by the SBU officers of the Kherson region under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office. Based on the materials of the Security Service, the court found her guilty under part 2 of article 28 and part 5 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration activity).

However, the woman cooperated with the investigation. Given this, the court sentenced her to 5 years in prison. Also, for 10 years, she was deprived of the right to hold positions in government bodies and engage in activities related to the electoral process.
