The Kyiv District Court of Poltava did not satisfy the petition to remove Oleksandr Mamay from the post of mayor. He will continue to act as mayor.
The prosecutor's office asked to temporarily remove Mamai from office for 2 months due to suspicion of treason. The court refused.
While Mamai remained mayor
On January 23, a closed meeting was held, during which the investigator Judge Yury Babenko considered the prosecutor’s petition for temporary suspension Mamaia from the position of the mayor of Poltava. Having considered the positions of both sides, the judge denied the prosecutor's request to satisfy the petition.

- On December 29, 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine visited the office of the mayor of Poltava and announced suspicion to Oleksandr Mamay.
- High-ranking officials suspect that he disseminated information about deployment of units of the Armed Forces of our state and thereby helped the enemy – article 144 of the Criminal Code of our state.
- According to the investigation, the defendant disseminated data that was not made publicly available by either the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or the Ministry of Defense, or other authorized state bodies. If he is proven guilty, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
- On Friday, January 20, a closed meeting was held in one of the district courts of Poltava, at which a preventive measure was to be chosen for Alexander Mamai. However, Judge Yuriy Babenko did not choose any measure of restraint for Mamai, although the prosecutor asked for it.
