The day has come in the UK when the prime minister can have a beer in a pub
Since April 12, some of the anti-coronavirus restrictions have been lifted in the UK, moving on to the second phase of government measures to return to normal life. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the country Boris Johnson.
During the announcement that the lifting of anti-coronavirus restrictions is in line with the plan worked out by the British government, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that on the day of the lifting of the restrictions, he would happily walk into a pub and drink a pint of beer.
From April 12, the UK will open, it follows from a government message:
- hairdressers, nail and beauty salons, spas and gyms, pubs, non-food stores, libraries, zoos;
- social distance rules continue to apply and any indoor meeting should be limited to six visitors;
- children will be able to attend any indoor activities for children;
- the limit of visits to nursing homes is expanding – now those who are there can be visited by two people;
- the number of guests at private events is also increasing: up to 15 people will be able to attend a wedding and funeral service, and up to 30 people can attend a funeral;
- Britons will be allowed to travel around the UK, but only in small groups living together. The government is also opening up the possibility for restaurants to serve food and alcohol to customers when placed on the street. The examinations for driving license are resumed, but the tests themselves will be held on April 22.

The authorities are going to assess the success of the new stage of lifting restrictions within four weeks.
Tough restrictions were introduced in the UK in January due to the accelerated spread of the British strain of coronavirus across the country.
The first step in lifting the restrictions began on March 8th. The British government opened schools and extracurricular activities for students and allowed meetings in parks for no more than two people.
At the same time, air traffic with the country was almost completely stopped. The ban on flights between the UK and Russia, introduced in December 2020, will remain in effect until mid-April.
The third stage of lifting coronavirus restrictions according to the government's plan should begin no earlier than May 17. Boris Johnson announced a complete exit from the restriction regime on June 21.
As of April 7, the daily increase in coronavirus cases in the UK was 2379 people. 20 people died in a day. The total number of cases of coronavirus during the coronavirus pandemic was 4,364,533 people, and 126,882 people died.
