On Tuesday, April 5, the European Union announced the fifth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which provides for a ban on coal imports from Russia and a ban on transactions with four Russian banks.
About This was announced by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leahen.
“Russia is waging a cruel, merciless war, also against the civilian population of Ukraine. At this critical point, we need to withstand maximum pressure. Therefore, today we are proposing the 5th package of sanctions” , — said the head of the European Commission.

The European official added that they would also impose additional individual sanctions against Russia for its aggression. She also noted that the EU is further discussing additional sanctions on oil imports from the Russian Federation.
