The European Commission, against the backdrop of the operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, will ban the operation of the Russian state English-language TV channel Russia Today, the Sputnik agency and their subsidiaries in the European Union. This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, reports RIA Novosti.
“Another unprecedented step: we will ban the Kremlin’s media machine in the European Union,” she said. At the moment, the EC is developing the necessary tools for this.
Editor-in-Chief of Russia Today and MIA Rossiya Segodnya Margarita Simonyan commented on this statement in her Telegram. “We know how to do our job in the conditions of prohibitions. These freedom-loving people have been preparing us for this for eight years, ”the journalist wrote.
