The head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrel, spoke about the US response to the proposals on security guarantees put forward by Russia. He wrote about this on his official Twitter account.
The representative of the European Union appreciated the actions of the United States and welcomed them. He said that only diplomacy will help resolve the situation for Ukraine and European countries.
“I welcome the written response of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Russia’s security proposals. Only diplomacy makes it possible to achieve a lasting settlement for the people of Ukraine and the peoples of Europe,” Borrel wrote.
In addition, Borrel appealed to Russia and urged it to agree to future diplomatic solutions. “The EU and the US are united in their approach,” he concluded.
On January 26, the United States sent Russia a written response to the proposals on security guarantees. It was brought to the Russian Foreign Ministry by US Ambassador John Sullivan and handed over to Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko. In addition, a written response from NATO was handed over to the Russian Ambassador in Brussels.
