On April 7, the UN General Assembly expelled Russia from the Human Rights Council. The reason for the resolution was the gross violations of human rights in the city of Bucha, in the Kyiv region.
Ukraine's representative to the UN Serhiy Kislitsa, who was entrusted with the task of getting to Russia from the UN Security Council, told what this has consequences for the aggressor country.
A complete disaster for Russia
According to Kyslytsya, for a country that considers itself a permanent member of the Security Council – an exception from the Human Rights Council is a complete disaster.
This is a political and diplomatic fiasco. And that is why they threw out the white flag, saying immediately after the vote that they intended to leave the Council themselves,” he stressed.
Kislitsa stressed that Russia did not dare to attend the meeting at the ambassadorial level. He did not appear, so as not to disgrace himself.
Recall that the decision to expel Russia from the UN Human Rights Council was supported by 93 countries out of 193 members of the General Assembly. 24 voted against, 58 abstained.
